Opportunities to Connect

What are some of your ideas on how our classes can continue to connect together in the future?

Mame Faty Kane July 10, 2020, 9:33 PM

My ideas on how the classes can continue to connect together in the future are to have at least monthly meetings once or twice a month but most importantly to continue to exchange on linkr but also to meet each other if possible.

I think what we can do to stay connected can be to create a WhatsApp or Facebook group so that we can learn to know more everybody. We can try to share our personal contact with at least two persons of the other country (or why not conserving the groups we had) too. And the final goal would be to try to meet everyone in person.

I think that in order to keep in touch and stay connected, it would be good to share often our school and activities home activities together. For that, I think that making vlogs (for example a day in a life of Senegalese or Hawaiian student) from time to time to show what we are doing would be more attractive. For example we can film ourselves while cooking or studying or even while we go to events and show how thing work in each country.

I think it won't be difficult to keep in touch with all the means of communication that exist today. We can for example share our social networks, it could allow us to get to know each other even better. We can also continue the conversations on linkr because there are still other sustainable development objectives that we could discuss. We could continue to share our cultures, our lifestyle and many others. It would also be great to make some video meetings sometimes.

Malia Ching July 13, 2020, 8:30 PM

I think we could keep meeting maybe once a month over Webex. We could also share our social media accounts such as Instagram or Snapchat so that we can reach out and learn more about each other whenever we want. It would be great to keep in touch with everyone!

I think that if everyone shares the same social media service (like snapchat or WhatsApp or instagram or facebook), we can create a group chat to keep everyone connected and up to date with each other's experiences. If that can't be done, we could always continue our discussions through Linkr or Flipgrid to stay connected, or we can even have weekly or monthly Webex calls. I know that my sister keeps in touch with her university clubs and friends through weekly Zoom meetings, so we could always do the same.

Kara Hirano July 13, 2020, 8:31 PM

Social media has made it extremely easy to stay connected with each other, so I think sharing those would be a good way to keep in touch. It would also be cool to meet with each other and chat some more online too. We could also create a group page or chat somewhere where we could share pictures and videos of our lives to learn more about each other.

Aubrey Kettley July 13, 2020, 8:35 PM

Honestly, I think that keeping in touch is a really good idea, but it will be super hard to do if we have to work around everyone's schedules. That's why I think that the best way to keep in touch would be to have a group chat -type thing, maybe linkr, that's easy to use, where Mr. Reddy, or another teacher posts fun, lighthearted questions. Possible questions could be: what's your favorite food recipe? what is your favorite place? what's on your bucket list? I think that planning more webex calls is a good idea, but it will be hard to get everyone together like we have it now, so having a more "asynchronous" way to connect might be easier.

Ally Tokioka July 13, 2020, 8:37 PM

Social media platforms are a great way to stay connected. Especially in times like today, platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. are constantly used to keep people all over the world in touch with one another. I think that sharing our social media accounts and starting chats on those could be a great way to stay connected in the future. Or even having a page similar to this one where we could post chats or photos could be a good way to communicate as well.

Gavin Raguindin July 13, 2020, 8:38 PM

There's a lot of ways to stay connected these days. I think a good way to stay connected in the future is by using flip grid by sending small clips of ourselves just to update on how life is like. We can create snapchat group chats or even follow each other on instagram and that will allow all of us to see the activities we've been doing in our lives.

Samantha Chapman July 13, 2020, 8:40 PM

I think we could use Webex to meet up every once in a while to reconnect and host further discussions. We could also continue using Linkr in order to continue our conversations and stay in touch.

Maisie Klem July 13, 2020, 8:40 PM

I think that social media would be the best way to stay connected, as many people have access to it and it can be a good look into our lives in Senegal/Hawaii. I also think that meeting on webex every so often would be awesome too. By meeting as a big group, we can keep our conversations going about culture, prominent issues that exist where we live, and the similarities and differences between Senegal and Hawaii.

Evan Daniel July 13, 2020, 8:41 PM

Social media is a great platform to stay in contact and it will allows use to learn more about each other. We can share our social media accounts to see what people are posting and even Webex calls every month.

Ella Sultan July 13, 2020, 8:41 PM

I definitely think we should share our social media as it is one of the easiest ways to stay connected. I also think it would be cool to continue writing and asking questions on this linkr so we can continue to explore each others lives and cultures.

Thomas Nitao teacher July 13, 2020, 8:45 PM

We can continue to connect through platforms like WhatsApp, email, facebook (and all of its subsidiaries), or even educational programs like linkr when the class is over. The exchange off WebEx thus far has been a very informative tool for more perspective on life in both Hawaii and Senegal, and continuing to write is a nice way to keep in touch.

Tim Adams teacher July 13, 2020, 8:50 PM

I think an easy way to stay connected is through social medias. This way we can see what is going on in peoples day to day life. The more quality way of staying connect together would be through having webex meetings whenever possible and having conversations together. These would need to have some discussion questions already planned out in order to maximize the use of our time.

Annika Bell July 13, 2020, 9:17 PM

I think that our classes can continue to connect with each other in the future through social media, as we can follow one another and stay connected. I also think since some people don't have social media we should try to hold meeting every month to stay in touch and to continue learning about the other country.

Sydney Whittington July 13, 2020, 9:25 PM

I think social media and linkr are great ways to communicate and connect. We should have monthly linkr prompts that we can fill out so that we continue to stay in touch with each other or a group chat so that we can send photos or videos. I also believe that we should do a group webex every couple of months or every year to continue our discussions. Social media is also a quick and easy way to stay connected and get a better idea of each other's lives.

Saida Fatimatou Zahraa Diouf July 13, 2020, 10:14 PM

With all of the social networks, I think that staying connected together should not constitute a big issue. I think that we could create a Whatsapp group in which everyone participate and follow each one on Instagram, Snap and Facebook. We could also meet monthly on WebEx and discuss on a SD goal or some current events.

Arame Boubou Traore July 14, 2020, 6:39 AM

We can still connected through social networks WhatsApp or Facebook or snapchat or maybe share our email and continue discussion on linkr. With social networks, we can create a group and learn more about others but for courses, we can also have class on webex once per month.

Lauren Richards July 14, 2020, 10:03 AM

I think having some sort of group chat would be best, especially as the time difference between Senegal and Hawaii makes having regular Webex calls kind of difficult. Using the Webex chat function was super fun and effective and I think that translates very well into using Whatsapp or Wechat to stay connected. We could also use social media to stay connected, although I don't know if everyone likes or uses popular social media.

Fatimata Thiam July 14, 2020, 3:29 PM

Nowadays we have so much opportunities to connect with all the social medias, the platforms that exist. We could create groups on whatsapp or keep on doing the webex meeting at different frequencies.we could also keep on sharing videos on flipgrid.we have several way to keep in touch we should choose the one that fits everyone

nata diagne July 14, 2020, 3:38 PM

I think to continue to connect together in the future, maybe we should have meetings from time to time even though it won't be like before. But it will be meetings where we tell each other about things like the activities we've done at school...

Benjamin Ancheta July 14, 2020, 6:01 PM

It would probably be hard to continue to meet over Webex because everyone doesn't have the same schedules but if we created group chats somehow that could work. In the future we could also try to meet up in person but I have no idea how that would be planned.

Norou Fall July 14, 2020, 6:43 PM

my idea is to make games while learning the culture of the other it could be entertaining and interesting
