The role of Culture played a very important role in the Residential schools. Nuns and priests were forcing the children to behave a certain way. They also forced the children, to dress a certain way and to follow certain prayers that not every child should have followed. The main goal of the nuns and priests were to change the children’s culture. One way to do that is by changing the children’s main source of identity. Their religion. By changing the children’s religions, the nuns and priests believed that it would force the children to follow their rules and regulations.
