Through the first half of The Circle by Dave Eggers, one of the stronger emotions I feel is incapacitation. It is the feeling of losing power or wanting to help but not being able to do anything . I empathize with Mae in the context of her father and what it is like to have a family member that is not able to take care of themselves due to disease.
