Ka'kwet's story arc in "Anne with an E" is one of the saddest seasons due to the portrayal of the struggles faced by Indigenous peoples in Canada during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Ka'kwet, a Mi'kmaq girl, is introduced as a friend of Anne Shirley-Cuthbert when Anne gives her a chance and discovers their culture. Writing a paper deemed as irrational and incomprehensive, Anne, like most of the episodes, is judged for her open-mindedness for it was not seen often to be cordial with the ones society referred to as "savages" when they simply lived in harmony with nature.
