Baptism and its new beginnings

Originating with the founder of Christianity, Jesus Christ, who accepted a baptism from St. John the Baptist, a Jewish prophet. Baptism represents the death to a former life and the arrival of a new being, being born into the church and becoming one with the body of Christ. It is understood to be the annulment of ones past sins and the emergence of a new innocent being, brought forth, through the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Done by a priest who pours or sprinkles water over the candidate’s head, symbolizing the emergence of a new life through the water displacement.
