A trope is a familiar and somewhat repeated and overused theme or device found in literature. The novel “The Barcode Tattoo” by Suzanne Weyn, can be classified as a dystopian novel therefore carries numerous dystopian tropes. One of the main tropes in the book is the “the government is evil” trope. This trope can be found all throughout the book.
