As I read my chapter for a second time, I understood the meaning of the sentence "Heaven and earth are not benevolent". Indeed, it means that when there is a natural disaster happening, heaven and earth don't really care who it affects and the damages it does. They are not well meaning and kind. I also searched the definition of an expression in my chapter : "straw dogs". It was the name of the dolls that were used in the ancient Chinese ceremonials. They were used for the purpose of being destroyed.
