Disorder and chaos can often be found in dystopian novels. In A Clockwork Orange, gangs run freely around the streets terrorizing civilians, and police find themselves largely unable to stop the problem. This trope is commonly found in dystopian works, especially in stories where authorities have failed to protect innocent civilians and where others turn to crime to survive or just for the hell of it. In a sense, this could also be due to the society itself where these individuals have grown up surrounded by violence and formed small alliances to get each other in and out of trouble.
