In February 2018, the Cozrnwallis statue got removed from the south-end park in Halifax. The monument was causing controversy among the local habitant and some wanted it removed. The municipality made a vote which was voted 12-4 for the removal of the statue (Anjuli Patil). Even if the vote was clear, many thought that the removal was wrong since it is still a part of Canadian history. The monument was first installed in 1931 to honor the governor of new Scotland who founded the city of Halifax (Anjuli Patil).
