Cultural Appropriation in Thanksgiving traditions

Thanksgiving obviously does not reflect what it did when it was observed by our ancestors in today's society. Native Americans taught the Americans and Canadians how to celebrate the harvest during the time of colonialism. It was also used to express particular political and religious ideals. Since both Americans and Canadians of European heritage claim to have invented these celebrations at this specific time of year and fail to give credit to the true founders of this custom, this might be considered as cultural appropriation.
