Netflix documentary Seaspiracy, directed by Ali Tabrizi, states that by 2048, there will be no fish left to be fished in the oceans because of the fishing industry practices, which include overfishing and skyrocketing amount of bycatch (Reality Check Team, 2021). This is based on a 2006 study by Professor Boris Worm and a New York Time article headlined “Study Sees ‘Global Collapse’ of Fish Species” (Dean, 2006) whose conclusions have endured until today.
