Fiskaz and Chips

The noun fish comes from the Old English word fisc, but it originated from the Proto-Germanic’s fiskaz, which itself originated from the Proto-Indo-European’s pisk-. However, the noun also has some sources from Old Saxon, Old Frisian, Old High German, Old Norse, Middle Dutch, Dutch, German and Gothic. We can assume that fish did a tour of the North-West side of Europe.
