Adults of our society should teach children about the history before they discover the harsh reality that was hidden from them. This will make them more self aware about their identity and culture. This will allow them to be less afraid of truly being themselves and expressing who they are. The narrator describes the innocence of the main character being lost in the story and how she discovers the dark history of racism.
