The article “Allegiance to Gratitude” by Robin Wall-Kimmerer shows how a simple ritual of gratitude could shape and change the values and focus of a society. The Thanksgiving Address is presented as a text from the Onondaga nation (but it can vary on the time and place) usually said at the beginning of events and important meetings such as the beginning of the school’s day. It is the “the credo for a culture of gratitude” as it explores how many natural elements that Earth, by performing their given roles in nature, also contribute to the life of humans, for which we may thank them (p. 115).
