If I had met teenage Tara, I would have tried to remove her from this situation. As she explained in the book, she did not know if this was normal to treat your family members the way they do in the book. Obviously, Tara did not have the knowledge that she was a victim of abuse. Meeting her when she was a teenager would have helped prevent further damaged by explaining to her and giving her that knowledge of kindness, love and respect for one another. It is obvious that she questions if this is abused or normal since she does not have the knowledge to make her own decision about the situation.
