According to Annie Lowrey from "The Atlantic", overtourism is a phenomenon that has advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, tourism represents more cross-cultural exposure, investment global connection and democratization of travel, but on the other hand overtourism causes multiple problems like overcrowding of tourist sites, damage to sites and the environment, and the pricing-out of locals.
