How can we humanize the use of animals in experimentations?

I have just read an article about animal ethics in experimentation on the BBC site named “Ethics guide: Experimenting on animals”, written in 2014 by an unknown author. The article explained the way those ethics are made, with techniques such as the "3R". It also showed some views of scientists on drug testing, the usefulness of animal experiments, the ethics behind those experiments and other approaches on this subject with a proposed EU directive at the end.
