Through my research on the residential schools in Canada, I have learned about various aspects of the atrocities that went on during the more than century long period. The main goal that the Canadian government had was to strip the Aboriginal children of their native culture in order to assimilate them to Canadian culture. I feel like more Canadians should read the TRC because it was extremely eye opening. I didn’t know about the TRC and probably wouldn’t have found it if it weren’t for this course.
