#1) Maher Arar was arrested while he was in New York even though he is a person with dual citizenship ( Both Canadian and Syrian). After he was arrested he was then deported to Syria. Maher’s rights were in fact neglected as a Canadian citizen and this brought up a string of questions. The questions this situation raises are; Can Maher be both a Canadian citizen and Syrian citizen, If he is both then is he more of a Syrian than he is a Canadian and finally, What is his his identity and citizenship.
