Christopher Jencks examines equality in education with reference to five common ways to of thinking about equal educational opportunity. The five possible ways in which to create a classroom that has equal opportunity as suggested by Jencks is through democratic equality, moralistic justice, weak humane justice, strong human justice, and utilitarianism(Jencks, C. 1998, p. 519-520). These different examples examine how equal opportunities allow for educators to distribute their resources in order to accommodate for the varying needs in the classroom.
