My work is a visual representation of the scene in "Establishing a Ranch in the Plains" where the characters are surprised by a solar eclipse. This is not surprising as there were difficulties in communication on long distances. What Sam is saying (in the dialogue bubble) is due to the of knowledge on the phenomenon, and also to the lack of quick news. I think that this scene is very useful to make a contrast between communication before, which was much slower, compared to now where we have technologies that can give us instant access to information and news.
