On September 22nd, I attended McGill’s 22nd annual powwow as part of a project for class. It was something new for me because I’d never experienced a cultural event like that before. Powwows are often talked about even outside of the Indigenous communities but never had I had the chance to see one. However, the McGill powwow was a perfect introduction to how events like these work and the symbolism behind each dance. The MCs explained what each dance signified and how it was linked to the type of regalia.
