Valerie Karonhiatakwen Gabriel really opened up my eyes to a bunch of new topics that I had not considered. One of them was the struggles that her ancestors had in the past with the people that landed on their shores and how that struggles still persists till this day. It saddened me to hear how giant companies dump contaminated soil on their lands, taking advantage of them, yet our government turns a blind eye to these issues.
