On July 26th, I visited the Museum of Natural History of Halifax featuring their new exhibit called Pjila’si meaning “welcome” in Mi’kmaw. The goal of this exhibit was to share with the public some of of the knowledge held by the Mi’kmaw community such as the language. There was a video explaining some letters, sounds and words in Mi’kmaw by Bernie Francis. Here are some that I learnt:
