Our “impartial” Law shows favouritism in “Trapped”

For my assignment, I chose to work with the meta-narrative “the law serves and protects everyone equally” in the short story “Trapped”. We can clearly see that this narrative is not the case in this story when a police officer pulls over Lance, a black man, for no apparent reason. He then starts questioning and pressing him until he sees Ricky, Lance’s white friend, and then suddenly leaves them be.
