Plato's Cave

Plato's analogy of the cave with respect to education allows us to distinguish between theoretical and practical learning. When one who knows the greater truth moves to educate those who live in darkness, even if they understand the ideas being presented they may not grasp the reality that is being told to them. In some cases this could result in a wish to know greater truths for oneself, and in other cases fear of a truth that may be uncomfortably beyond their perception.
