With 312 electoral votes, Donald Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States of America. Although it may not be a shock that he won, I am surprised that many news outlets called the race early. Compared to the days it took to count the ballots during the 2020 election, this wait was extremely short. This was also the first time that President-elect Trump won the popular vote, which speaks volumes of how Harris and the Democratic Party struggled to build a strong coalition within the short time they had between her nomination and the election.
