Public monuments should represent history and reconciliation, not celebrate Canada's colonization

In the article written by Kerry Benjoe, she discusses the topic that historical monuments of “great leaders” should only be to represent history and not colonization, as they are used now. The example used is how we celebrate leaders like John A. Macdonald as a great prime minister, yet in reality he was rather a “racist drunk” according to Benjoe. She uses the example that monuments should only be for history and Canadian beliefs by stating the fact that, even though Saskatchewan was not a province in Canada at the time of his government, his statue is in downtown Regina.
