Well, it took 20 years to happen but my publication: "Detection Technologies in Proteome Analysis" (Patton W.F. (2002) J. Chrom. B. 771 (1-2), 3-31) has reached the milestone of having been cited in the scientific literature by 700 other publications (Benchmark per Google Scholar). I believe that's not too bad for a nonacademic, industry scientist working in the life science tools sector!
