On p. 34 we find an illustration of the Socratic method, as Socrates cross-examines his accuser Meletus. Socrates draws an analogy with another field – raising horses. He asks Meletus if anyone can improve a horse, or if only a specialist horse trainer does that. Do you think that teachers are specialists in the way that horse trainers are? Do teachers train students to be better people, as horse trainers train horses to be better horses? Or are there some important differences between these cases?
