Alice Walker's quote: "I had forgotten that human animals and nonhuman animals can communicate quite well; if we are brought up around animals as children we take this for granted. By the time we are adults we no longer remember. However, the animals have not changed"(5), really made me stop and think. It's a reminder that we don't always need words to feel a connection, and that kids often get this better than adults do. We grow up and forget how easy it was to understand animals when we were little, even though animals are still the same.
