Reflection on 'Tricks of the Trade' (pp 146-158)

1) Young doctors use the term "crock" to describe patients they find difficult to treat. This term refers to patients who don't follow medical advice without question. According to Becker, this language reflects the way medical students are trained to think about patients. He explains that this language shows us how doctors use certain words to communicate their attitudes and values toward different patients. Overall, these words and language use can reflect the social norms and values within a profession.
