Annika Meyer, Konstantin Klingenberg, Matthias Wilde (2016) aim to examine the efficacy of using live mice when teaching life sciences such as biology. This study was done to evaluate the effects of short-term and long-term effects of student contact with living animals, more specifically mice, compared to media exposure. The research questions sought to be answered were; does the use of living mice in a science classroom increase student intrinsic motivation and their flow experience or does it increase solely their motivation but not their flow experience?
