Health and linguistic literacy is vital in healthcare due to diversity. The healthcare communication is combination of three factors, that is, health literacy, cultural competency and linguistic competency. A patient's health literacy is dependent on various socio-cultural factors. Low health literacy is not dependent on language proficiency. With increasing diversity, healthcare workers with better linguistic skills and culturally competent are required.
