It's helpful to start by looking at the definition of gender when considering the word "transgender." To begin, we must distinguish between sex and gender. The biological and physical features that are associated with being branded male or female are referred to as sex. At birth, a person's sex is determined by their genitalia and/or chromosomes. The word "sex" refers to a collection of traits, experiences, and behaviors that determine a person's gender. But if the person is not considering himself as a boy or girl and they choose their preference of sex, that is transgender.
