Euthanasia, “the act of a physician administering lethal medication” (Verhosfstadt, Monica) to their patient, has been a polarizing subject for years due to its moral implications. Culturally, the subject of euthanasia is taboo, as society struggles with the morals involved in this ending of one’s life. This text will explain why doctors are morally obligated to euthanize patients who wish to end their lives. The ethical frameworks that will be considered are utilitarianism and virtue ethics.
