A couple of days ago, I performed a random act of kindness when I gave up my seat to a mom on the bus. A mother with two young children came on the bus, and while there were two seats next to me for the children, the mom had to stand. After a moment, she sat down and placed one of her children on her lap, but it was clear that it wasn’t comfortable for either of them. I decided to offer her my seat, thinking it might make her day a little easier. When I spoke to her, she seemed genuinely touched by the act and was grateful. Her relief was visible, and both she and her children thanked me.
