When an old device does not work anymore, my parents and I do not throw it in the garbage can. My dad will take it to a centre where they are in charge of recycling electronics and using their materials to fabricate something else or they will give the device a new life. For the most part actually, we try to keep our old devices as long as we can until we can no longer open them.
