Sufism began in Baghdad, during the second half of the ninth century. Since God is in our hearts, it is unnecessary to perform rituals or sacrifices in his honour. However, music and dance bring you closer to god, as it is the distraction from practice that brings about an artistic air during the ceremony of Sama. The syncopated and Hypotonic traditions are endowed with healing properties from the pressures and problems of society.
