I felt saddened and disgusted by how the Native people are being treated in the novel. They are being hunted for their bone marrow, and killed so that others may dream. I am horrified that the First Nation people have been stripped of all of their rights, they are not viewed as a person anymore, they are only seen as a tool to ‘cure’ others of their darkness. The fact that dreams are not even a necessary part of living but people are willing to slaughter a whole nation to regain the ability to dream is what disgusts and shocks me the most.
