The Month of Salvation

The Magh Mela is a Hindu festival held annually at Prayagraj. During the 45 days of festivity, people gather at Sangam for many reasons such as offering prayers and bathing in the holy waters. They practice this ritual to clean themselves from all sins committed in past lives. Since Sangam is the confluence of three sacred rivers, bathing in there, which is seen as the holy dip, also represents the liberation of samsara, the cycle of birth.
