The Native Americans' Misunderstood Message

A. There is an ecological issue concerning the pipeline since it transports natural gas, an important contributor to global warming. There is a socio-economic issue because many Wet’suwet’en inhabitants would benefit from a well-paying job for the duration of the construction. There is a political issue between the [native council] and the hereditary chiefs. The council agreed to the pipeline’s offer whilst the hereditary chiefs (who own the rights to the land) are opposed to it.
