I watched Freedom Writers for the first time in 5th grade in school. My teacher showed us multiple movies which showcased racial injustice. I rewatched this movie because it was so good. The movie is based on a true story. Most kids of colour came from neighbourhoods which were prone to gang violence. A lot of them did not expect to go far in school so they did not put much effort in it. Also, teachers had already abandoned the idea those kids would ever graduate so they would give them old books which were damaged and not relevant at their level and refused to give them new academic books…
