In the western story “The Stage to Lordsburg”, many themes are explored. In fact, a complex theme that this piece of writing takes a look at is the theme of femininity. In this story, the main female character Henriette is given arguably more importance than most of the male characters in the story. To further corroborate this claim, she is referred to as “Henriette”, which is a more feminine version of a traditionally masculine name, while the other female character in the story is referred to as “Army girl” for almost its entirety.
