Around the 700-800 AD, the Danes and the Saxons were at war. There was however a desire amongst the Saxons to reunite many separate kingdoms, which now forms England. As of the representations, there was a lot more men present than women on the screen. They all spoke with an old english accompanied with a heavy accent that was sometimes hard to understand. They were all dressed with clothes from their time, but all so luxurious for the higher society. The upper class has obviously more advantages than the lower ones, but from the episode I saw, the richest are more represented.
