Gaia Hypothesis mainly focuses on the ecosystem as a whole (Lovelock). Lovelock, an atmospheric biologist who came up with the Gaia Hypothesis thinks that the earth is “an immense, complex, self-sustaining organism” which is “able to maintain a steady state in a variety of conditions” just like a person does. According to his hypothesis, “life itself contributes essentially to the conditions on the earth that allow the earth to remain hospitable for living things”.
