Trading children for money?

As the consumer market gets increasingly competitive, marketing strategies from companies are increasingly targeted to the younger generation that are known as the indirect consumers or society(Lad, Sachin K. et al., pp.2372). Moreover, the privatization of children’s use of media reduces the amount a parent can control over their content, resulting in diverse types of content within reach (APA, 2004). Using the ethical framework of utilitarianism, this text will break down why companies should stop marketing with the goal of targeting their content to children.
