The role of herbaria is to provide researchers with specimens that have been preserved in a standard method. It is a collection of plants (and insects) throughout time. Researchers can use these specimens to advance taxonomy using genetics, or find ways to help fight the climate crisis by looking at its effects on historic plant populations.
