I think happiness as amusement is what dominates our current society. I think this because now, with the rise of social media, a lot of innate intention is grounded in trying to impress or project an image or sense of self. That kind of external validation creates a sense of happiness which isn't about "contemplation". Happiness now for a lot of people (as cynical as this may sound) is about projecting the image of a person who is happy and living a happy life by doing amusing activities.
