I think that God’s reaction is not exaggerated but completely adequate for this situation. Why? Because the story tells us that God has created the whole world on its own. By creating creatures, vegetations, animals, and rivers, God worked a lot to come to the result of our Earth. His main goal by doing it was to create a place like heaven. A place where everybody is happy and lives in harmony. Because of that, he should be someone that everyone should respect.
